The pamphlets include A Discourse Concerning Unlimited Submission and Non-Resistance to the Higher Powers, Boston, 1750; Reasons why the British Colonies in America should not be charged with internal taxes, New Haven, 1764; Letter from a gentleman at Halifax, containing remarks upon a pamphlet entitled, the Rights of Colonies examined, Newport, 1765, and more. Each pamphlet is reprinted in its entirety and introduced by an essay written by Bailyn with a biographical sketch of the author, analysis of what led to the pamphlet's publication, and an interpretation of its contents.
