I'm happy to write with more sales to round out February. It was a delight to have so many of you visit last month for our media sale and our half-off sale of children's books. I've had in my mind to host a similar half-off sale for vintage books for some time, and I felt encouraged by your warm response. I suspect we will hold something like these two sales annually in the cold months of the early year, when some encouragement is needed to visit bookstores--which really are--once you're there--a very nice place to be on a winter's day.
Over Presidents' Day weekend, we'll reduce all of our vintage book collection, which we more-or-less define as pre-1970, to be half of it's marked price. Our vintage books are good deals anyway. We've always specialized in the inexpensive vintage titles with interesting content in interesting (to us) genres. So, now you can really load them up by the bagful, I feel. With our long closure, I continue to have excellent material reserved that we've selected and we are working to quickly price and get into our storefront. That means, like our children's sale last month, we'll have both older stock (true "clearance" material) and fresh never-presented stock (not your typical clearance material but exciting and festive to share!).
Also, of course, we're in a historic soap factory, so the whole experience is sort of like library LARPing.
- Saturday, February 17th - Monday, February 19th, 10am - 6pm
- 50% Off all vintage books, anything published before 1970
- ~1200 categorized vintage books, our entire vintage collection: Fiction, New England, Art, Architecture, Technical, Poetry, Religion, Medicine, Military, Travel, Children's
- Also featuring a small collection of reasonably priced wall maps
- We will also put out about 25 boxes of vintage books, which are new arrivals, which have not been put out in our store previously.
- Most of our vintage books are in excellent condition and are priced between $7 and $15 every day, so typical sale prices will be $3.50 - $7.50
- Even our scarcer books, art books, and fine bindings will be half off for the sale. Most of these books are priced between $15 and $100 and so will be $7.50 - $50 during the sale.
- Parking is in our upper lot or on the street--please be respectful of neighbors' driveways if you park on the street
