Roundabout has been operating since 2012, and currently employs ten people who bring many talents to the table. We have recently taken ownership of Boswell’s Books, which has been a Shelburne Falls institution since 1991, and we’re committed to maintaining the relationship that Boswell’s has fostered with Shelburne Falls and the surrounding hilltowns. Because we are a Franklin Country bookstore, we attend closely to the needs, interests, and ideals of our community, and we seek out the input of local librarians for additions to our collection. Connecting local customers to excellent books is something we value deeply as booksellers.

Our community connections:

We have held a semi-annual children’s book sale at Four Corners Elementary School, in partnership with their parent-teacher organization, and this has become a place where parents can find affordable copies of the best-loved used children’s books for their personal libraries. We have also worked with Four Rivers Charter School and Easthampton Public Schools to supply some of their books.

When we source used books and media, we like to partner with local nonprofit organizations when possible. Roundabout purchases used media from More than Words, a Boston-based nonprofit organization that empowers youth in foster-care, who are out of school or unhoused, or in the court system, to take charge of their lives. We purchase part of our used book inventory from local nonprofits such as Reader to Reader in Amherst, and Experienced Goods, the Brattleboro Area Hospice thrift store. In sales and events, we have paired with the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts and with Great Falls Books Through Bars.
