A great time to shop locally!

Saturday, November 30th- Sunday, December 1st

I am delighted to be able to write to you about a suite of sale events that we have been planning for the upcoming weeks, and especially the days after Thanksgiving, when you may be planning shopping for the holidays.  We are deeply grateful to have our bookstore on Pierce Street open this year--and open now for a year.  It is a joy to be here and I feel a sense of certainty and conviction that your support is a gift that you personally have given to me and our staff.  Thank you all truly!

There are two things I'd like to highlight about our shopping experience as you consider what makes sense for you for holiday shopping.

1. Since we opened in 2012, we have always wanted to offer prices and service that earn your business on their own.  We want you to shop locally and support us as your neighbors, of course, but we also want to offer deals that speak for themselves.  These deals shine most clearly in our used, vintage, and children's books, which are often better prices than one can find online, and, as I call it, are "shipped instantly" [you can buy it in the store].  Our new books compete, too, especially on these sale days, and our selections, informed by our buyer, my family, and our staff, increasingly stand out even nationally as we build our offerings of small presses, university presses, works in translations, and recommended books, in addition to top national sellers.

2. I would like a visit to our store to be an enjoyable experience in itself.  It is a place where children can play or read, everyone can have a break from bustling days, you can sit by the fire, we will do things like gift wrapping and shipping for you, and you can have a cup of tea.  Truly, beyond hospitality, what is there?  (Poetry and architecture and music, maybe.)  It is a joy to share with you what you have helped us to build.

So, in essence, we'd love to have you over.  If you maybe have family in the area for Thanksgiving, we'd love to have them over, too.  So many of you brought your families and visiting loved ones last year, it really made our season.  Since there are so many happenings, I'll also share some upcoming dates for our media sale and the always-festive Moonlight Magic that we'll host the Friday after Thanksgiving at Boswell's Books, too.  Save the dates!...

Thank you all!
