Description: Illustrated with full page steel engravings. Original deeply-embossed leather binding with gilt decorations and text on boards and spine. Spine has raised bands which are greatly rubbed, and the front hinge is very fragile and partially broken between the spine and front board. Board decoration is in good condition despite the hinge, with the gilt being strong on the rear board, and only somewhat faded on the front. Gilded page-edges with decoration. Some minor pest damage, and a few pages in the middle of text block are torn. There is some white spotting and dirt primarily on the front board. Stitching is loose at hinges, and as a result, some pages are loose. Glossy, textured endpapers are dirty, but interior pages, particularly past the first and final 40 pages, are in good condition with no known marking in the text, other than family record. Early illustrations, such as Leah and Rachel, and Ruth and Naomi, are in poor condition, but illustrations in the middle of the text are well preserved, some with their original tissue-protection. Contains color-prints of a prayer and of the marriage and family record pages. Family record is filled, from Easthampton and Northampton, Massachusetts. Also contains cardboard picture holders for family portraits or photographs at the rear. Contains old and new testaments, commentary, a brief encyclopedia of terms and places, and a gallery of scriptural illustrations. Hardcover, acceptable condition. Pages are numbered by section, 13"x10.5"x5.5" quarto.
