Boards are spotted, and corners are exposed. Red and white patterned pastedown bears the name Benjamin Falkner in ink. Frontispiece steel illustration of New York and Brooklyn, with facing illustrated title page, separated by tissue. These areas are foxed more substantially than the rest of the book, which is lightly foxed. Further steel engravings throughout, protected by tissue. No map, which was issued separately. This book discusses the boundaries of New York, topography, state government, canals, railroads, corporations, commerce, colleges and academies, churches, information by county, and geographical names of the state of New York, up to the year of publication in 1860.
