The book is structured by health promotion topic, but internally within these topics, by curriculum by grade, from first through 8th grades. The writer acknowledges that most children at the time of writing do not attain more than an 8th grade education, and so if they are to gain a knowledge of health, it must occur before then. The material included in the book is intended to be integrated with reading, language, civics, history, physical education, geography, and art, with the understanding that health is not an isolated subject.
