Description: Signed and inscribed by illustrator to the Wiesenthal family, 1938. Original brown paper-covered boards with woodcut illustration on front board and cloth spine. Woodcut illustrations on most interior pages. Pages are tanned but unmarked. Some wear to corners and discoloration along spine, but generally in nice condition. Contains letter from Albert Reese at Kennedy & Co., to Curt Wiesenthal, concerning carrying Jacob Steinhardt's work as a part of their 5th Avenue painting and print gallery. Also contains a newspaper clipping from The Palestine Post, entitled Portrait of a Jerusalem Painter: Jakob Steinhardt. Jacob Steinhardt (1887-1968) was a German-born Israeli painter and woodcut artist. Shalom Yosef Shapira, known by the pen name Shin Shalom (1904-1990), was an Israeli poet, author and translator. His poetry is known for elements derived form Hasidic and Kabbalah symbolism. Hardcover, very good condition. Unpaginated, 16 pages, square octavo.
