Original quarter-calf binding with gilt lettering and raised bands on spine. Binding is lightly scuffed at corners, on boards, and on spine edges. Some minor spotting on boards. Endpapers marbled in maroon, yellow, blue, and cream. Page-edges also marbled, but faded. Pages are unmarked, interior is clean, and text-block stitching is tight. Some light foxing in places, and pages are slightly tanned. This volume contains encyclopedia entries for F through Herman, including longer entries on falling bodies, faraday, Florida, fermentation, flexure of beams, fireproof buildings, fortification, fluoride of aluminum and sodium, geodesy, geology, German theology, germ-theory of disease, glacier, glass, gold mines, gravity, Great Britain, William Hamilton's philosophy, harbors of American lakes, heat, heraldry, and more.
