Cloth is scuffed, edges are worn, and both hinges are cracked and showing mesh. One page is loose. Contains the markings of the Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing Library, as well as checkout card pocket and dateslip. Interior contains a few marks in pencil. Chapters include: Extension of Health Services, Future Demand for Nursing Care, Differentiations of Nursing According to Function, Future Role of the Professional Nurse, Education for Practical and Graduate Bedside Nurses, Education for the Professional Nurse, and Resources for the Future. Esther Lucile Brown (1898-1990) was a social anthropologist and the director of the Department of Studies in the Professions for the Russell Sage Foundation. In general, Brown argued that nurses should be aware of patients' cultural backgrounds to improve care. She was asked to study the nursing profession following the nursing shortages of World War II, resulting in the publication of this report. From the nursing history collection of Sarah Abrams.
