Description: Ex-library. Original blue embossed cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine. Typical wear to spine edges and board corners. Blue decorative endpapers made to appear marbleized. Library markings inside on pastedown, endpapers and title page from the State of New Jersey Department of education. Catalog number removed from spine. No other interior markings, and pages are in good condition. A small section of pages, 65-68, have come loose but are still present in this volume. The book contains a number of illustrations and plates of different types of brickwork, including two color plates, and also includes a fold-out multistory chimney and flue sectional diagram. Instructions are given on load bearing requirements, how to perform masonry, scaffolding, types of bonds, earthquake-proofing brick structures, ornamental designs, brick textures, mortars, and cornice design, among others. Prepared under the supervision of William Lowndes, Ph. B, with the section on common brickwork by D. Knickerbacker Boyd, FAIA, and the section on face and ornamental brickwork by George J. Jervis.
