Title: Principles and Practices in Public Health Nursing including Cost Analysis
Author: The National Organization for Public Health Nursing
Publisher: The Macmillan Company, New York
Published: 1932
Binding: Hardcover
Language: English
Edition: First Edition
Number of Pages: 129
Catalogs: Nursing History, Public Health
Description: Ex-library. Original blue cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine. Lettering is somewhat faded. Spine edges are frayed, and corners are lightly exposed. Contains stamps and markings from the Visiting Nurse's Library of Hamden, Connecticut. Otherwise mostly clean, with just a few light pencil notations inside. Contains a field nursing expense worksheet, as well as several appendices and tables. This handbook has been compiled to guide the computation of true costs of public health nursing visits for individuals, private physicians, industry, insurance companies, boards of health and education, and more, so that fair charges for nursing service might be applied. At the time of publication, a greater amount of emphasis was being placed on public and preventative health, driven by Progressive Era reforms. As an example, the book mentions the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as a pioneer in providing visiting nurse service for its industrial policyholders. Contents include a short history of visiting nursing, general principles, personnel, salaries, health of staff, supervision, the educational program of public health nursing agencies, available working hours, visits, records and reports, transportation, contractual relations, special studies, and more. From the nursing history collection of Sarah Abrams. Hardcover, good condition. 129 pages, octavo.
