Bermuda is an archipelago consisting of 181 islands, although the most significant islands are connected by bridges and appear to form one landmass. The closest land outside the territory is in the U.S. state of North Carolina, about 643 miles to the west-northwest. This guidebook was postponed in its writing by World War I, but in the years following, Bermuda again became a popular destination for American, Canadian and British tourists arriving by sea. This volume closely followed the publication of Rider's New York City, presumably anticipating interest in the island chain. The book's introduction provides general information about Bermuda, its government, history, and geology. The Preliminary Information section covers staying in Bermuda, inter-island travel, and services. The following chapters discuss different locations, including Hamilton, the central parishes, going eastward, westward, and the outer reefs. Frederic Taber Cooper Ph.D. (1864-1937) was an American editor and writer. Hardcover, good condition. 158 pages, 16mo.
