Description: Ex-library. Original maroon cloth binding with gilt lettering on front board and spine. Spine is faded, and contains a library catalog number. Stamps, checkout card pocket, and date slip from the Mary Fletcher Hospital School of Nursing Library inside. Binding is mostly firm, mildly flawed between pages 52 and 53, but no loose pages. Pages a little tanned, with minor spotting, but no marginalia. As the postwar U.S. population became more mobile, interests and concern for the problems of interstate licensure in nursing grew. This book is an outgrowth of a study undertaken by Dr. R. Louise McManus, Mary Ella Chayer, and Dr. Daniel R. Davies at Teachers College, Columbia University, with data from 52 jurisdictions including U.S. states and territories. The study includes discussion of the legal bases of control of professional practice, factors influencing problems in interstate movement, efforts towards solutions, problems relating to qualifications and competency, problems relating to fees, practices, records, and ways of facilitating interstate movement of registered nurses. From the nursing history collection of Sarah Abrams. Hardcover, good condition. 186 pages, octavo.
