Description: Six volumes, complete. Second (1966) printing of 1939 edition. Original red cloth binding with gilt lettering on front boards and spines. No dust-jackets. Slight scuffing and pen mark on front board. Pages are clean and generally unmarked, save a few pencil notes in the index. Frontispieces: Volume 1 is a facsimile letter with rebuses written by Emerson in 1813; Volume 2 is a facsimile letter to Frederic Henry Hedge, Volume 3 is a facsimile letter to Margaret Fuller, Volume 4 is a facsimile of a letter to George Partridge Bradford, Volume 5 is a facsimile letter to James Elliot Cabot, Volume 6 is a facsimile page of Emerson's letter to Lidian Emerson in 1873. This six volume set covers the years 1813 to 1881. Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) was and American Transcendentalist poet and abolitionist. Ralph Leslie Rusk (1888-1962) was an American academic specializing in Emerson. Hardcover, good condition. Contains index to all six volumes, sixth volume photographed separately.
